What is event planning?

Blank Canvas is involved with planning the venue element of an event, meaning we manage a variety of event spaces in London so that an agency or private client can undertake effective event planning.
At Blank Canvas, we help to facilitate the planning process by linking the client with our suppliers and by guiding the client through the use of the venue. Having worked with our unique venues for some time, we are well placed to help clients at both the planning stage and throughout the entire event. This enables everyone involved to get the most out of the experience and ensure that the venue that is being hired can be used to its fullest potential. We can also point out the possible pitfalls with any given venue so that problems can be avoided.
We specialize in dry hire venues, which are essentially empty spaces, although all the basic amenities will be present. The advantage of an empty space is that a client can completely transform the venue to suit their objectives. It enables the creation of a unique event that fits with any branding or other requirements. This flexibility is unusual in the venue hire arena and is something that’s often missing with more traditional event spaces.
What type of events do you plan?
We cater for a wide variety of events, both large and small. Some of the events we have helped to plan include weddings, wedding receptions, birthdays and other celebrations, product launches, press days, conferences, fashion shows, immersive events, experiential events and brand activation events. Our work is predominantly corporate and private events, but we do occasionally plan public events. Our goal is always to advise our clients on sourcing the best possible venue for their needs, allowing them to create a unique and impressive event that ticks every box.

Our spaces are dry hire and blank canvases, which means you have the flexibility to transform the space to your exact requirements. Importantly, this gives you scope to use the same venue again in the future, yet still enables you to provide guests with a unique experience by using different dressings, décor, caterers and other suppliers. Utilising a venue more than once will enable you to reduce the time you spend on planning, as some features of the event are likely to remain the same.

We are predominantly a venue management company, but we also have wide-ranging experience in event planning and can offer partial or full planning for events.
Our in-house events team have an in-depth knowledge of our exclusive portfolio of venues and are perfectly placed to provide you with a full event management service, from conception to completion. Our services include event planning, project management, set design, prop sourcing and hire, lighting design and production, event staffing, budget management, marketing, social media and PR, photography and videography.
What locations do you offer?
We have a changing portfolio of spaces located all over London, so please do get in touch to discuss your requirements. Our spaces are very versatile, but certain venues are more suited to specific types of events – for example if you are hosting a music event, or there will be a band or orchestra playing, you may wish to consider acoustics. Please talk to our team who will be more than happy to advise you based on your specific requirements.
What process do you undertake when planning events for clients and how do you organise suppliers?
Every client will be matched with a dedicated venue manager who will help to fulfil their specific requirements. We have a large and diverse list of trusted suppliers who we recommend to our clients. These suppliers can provide any and every element of an event that may be needed, and they range from the best quality on the market to the best value, meaning we can cater for high-end events, budget-conscious clients, and everyone in between.
Whether you’re planning a formal sit-down meal or an informal lunch or dinner, we will have access to the right suppliers for you. For a more edgy feel, you may wish to have street food stalls, barbecue pits or a slow roast – whatever you have in mind we can oblige. Our speciality is in creating something unique, whether you want to create a refined, elegant occasion or a hipster party, and our attention to detail is second to none.
We politely suggest that our clients work with our recommended suppliers as these are people and businesses that are familiar with our venues and are best placed to meet client needs. All of our suppliers go through our accreditation process to ensure they are able to provide the highest quality service.
Do you offer a consultation service?
We do provide a venue scouting service, so if you are unable to find a suitable venue, or something in the right geographical location within London, then we can assist in sourcing something that meets your needs.
We will use your brief to undertake a specific property search and negotiate hiring a particular space on your behalf. Once we have identified potential locations, we can arrange for you to visit to ensure the venue is right for your requirements. We’re also able to liaise with the property owner on your behalf to get you a deal that’s right for you.
Our experienced team can also advise on business rates, planning, licensing, health and safety, and insurance, to ensure every aspect of your venue hire is covered and you are able to run a successful event.
What are the costs involved and do you offer packages?
We require a deposit of 50% that is payable upfront to book the venue. Any supplier costs must be arranged between the client and the supplier, although we can offer packages, so please discuss your requirements with us.
Can you provide a quote?
Once you have provided us with a full brief, including a list of requirements for your event, then we are able to provide a comprehensive quotation for your event.
