Tarek Gjonnes
Managing Director

Tarek the Moroccan Viking, also known as the MD of Blank Canvas, started his career in events to support his front-man role in the Hardcore Punk band, Fireapple Red. Having crossed several universes and a plethora of event environments and experiences, he returned to planet earth in 2008 to start the successful Building Revival Force, known to mortals as a venue Management company, where he breathed new life into iconic buildings like Battersea Power Station, the Farmiloe Building, the Tramshed and many more cool venues in London. His greatest superhero achievement was conceptualising and building the infamous Boiler House Venue at BPS. Joining forces with Courtney, Jason and Paul, he has now formed what is predicted to be the future of Building Revival Forces: Blank Canvas.

Chris Hill
Operations manager

Chris sits at the back of the office because his blue fur and pointed ears tend to turn heads. Having gained a post-graduate certificate with distinction in Event Management, Chris became Operations Assistant at Industri Management, where he worked alongside the operations manager on the sites at Battersea Power Station, helping to ensure the smooth running of events like the Moonwalk and Gabrielle Foundation Dinner and Auction. Joining Blank Canvas on the day of formation, Chris oversees the operation aspects of the all the events and venues. He has a detailed technical understanding of each venue, helping clients to save time and to accommodate their vision.Chris also produces our brochures, since he is tech savvy (let’s not forget he’s a world authority on biochemistry and genetics) and has design experience. But we’ve told him they can’t all be printed in blue.

Alex Cudby

As well as being able to control matter at a subatomic level, Alex is also a genius photographer. After studying Art & Design at Ravensbourne, and traveling around the world, photographing the places and people he saw and met on the way, he developed a style that pushes the boundaries of contemporary photography. Alex’s role at Blank Canvas is to capture the beauty and architectural detail in all of the buildings within the company’s portfolio, as well as shooting the process of event builds and candid moments during live events. He will also take care of any nuclear issues that might come up.

Charlene Payne

The lady in the tight-fitting leather suit is our Property Manager. Charlene has long experience working in the property industry. She has professional training in landlord and tenant law, property and estate management and commercial leases. Charlene currently manages a collective mixed-use portfolio of over 50 properties for Blank Canvas’ parent company, the Park Hill Group, and is PA to the Chairman (aka the Hulk). Her role at Blank Canvas involves hands-on, or paws-on, management of the portfolio, assisting with acquisitions, development, design, project management, planning, and asset management.

Paolo Bastiani
Head of sales

Paolo, who occasionally jumps out of planes at 15,000 ft and sometimes answers to the name Logan, has over 20 years’ experience in senior event management including operations, branding and advertising. He recently finished a successful stint as Head of Events at the world famous Battersea Power Station where he managed some of the most incredible events in the Capital. He was Senior Event Manager for the London Natural History Museum, where he got his claws into some of the museum’s biggest events, including the Cartier flagship Shop Party and the launch of the new Honda F1 car. Prior to the Natural History Museum, Paolo worked at the prestigious 5-star Grosvenor House Hotel, London, where he learned how to be a top quality Hospitality Manager while looking after heads of state and the Royal Family. Paolo claims to be 33 (?), but with his rejuvenation abilities, he could be a lot older.

Paul Tuck

When Paul isn’t tearing down buildings with his bare hands, he’s investing in them. A property entrepreneur with over 25 years in commercial and residential property investment and development, he is the founder and current MD of the Park Hill Group. From modest beginnings as a physicist called Bruce Banner, Paul has gown a substantial company, achieving year-on-year expansion, and amassing an impressive portfolio of residential and commercial property in some of London’s most sought after areas. He is the Chairman of Blank Canvas, where his primary role is to advise and implement the company’s strategy. Everyone at the company is careful not to make him angry and keeps a wary eye on the colour of his skin.
